VIOLENCE DESTROYS FAMILY INSTITUTION: Link To Crime & Terrorism

Home is a safe heaven of every woman that provides protection against all internal and external evils. It helps build the family institution where all the members of a family are interwoven. A family that cannot ensure security and dignity of women is weak and vulnerable to many psychosocial problems. Violence against women affects the social fabric of the society. It affects the mental and physical health of women who are direct victims of violence and indirectly affects their children who suffer as helpless observers and either develop psychological problems or unload their frustration on the society in the form of violence.

Children who are exposed to violence at home suffer from emotional trauma, have poor educational outcomes and are at an increased risk of using violence to solve their problems. The intolerance, agitation and frustration in the society in general has its roots in domestic violence. Violence against women in their homes creates a culture of silence where violence remains unchecked and leaves the women unprotected and exposed to oppression. Women experiencing violence from intimate partners are sometimes forced to flee their homes with their children which usually results in unstable living situations and has a negative impact on children. Thus abuse of women destroys the entire family institution and is reflected as conflict in the society.
