  WRCP : Accomplishments

To achieve its ultimate and prime goal of Violence Free Society along with absolute gender equality and assurance of fundamental rights WRCP along with the collaboration of Women Protection Project and German Agency for Technical Assistance (WPP-GTZ) conducted a wide range of activities in just one year of existence such as advocacy and lobbying with policy makers; capacity building; mobilization and institution building among young students and E-networking and WRCP accomplished most of the target set. It has a number of achievements on credit such as hammering stereotyped and mystified beliefs related to VAW  and women rights especially in terms of male involvement and at field activity level, creation of sensitized faculty cadres and a pool of motivated young leaders as change agent, pool of mobilized volunteers, network of academic institutions, production of motivational literature etc.

The campaign has quite successfully generated a very positive response from stakeholders, masses, and media. The IEC material has made people think about violence against women issues and reconsider their own attitudes toward women. In one such incident, a man (35 yrs of age) visited the WRC-Pakistan office and was presented with a tea mug with the message ‘Men for Ending Violence against Women’. After reading the statement he felt embarrassed and confessed that in the morning before leaving his house he had hit his wife and after reading that he felt sorry for his action. The positive aspect was his confession, understanding and promise to improve his behavior.

Over the period more than 2,000 people have volunteered to work for our cause. Media, both electronic and print have been quite responsive and co-operative towards WRCP cause and regularly reported all the activities WEG arranged during all the period since its beginning.
